Thomas E. Henson's Obituary
Thomas E. Henson, Sr., 79, of Kenova, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 4:00 pm surrounded by his devoted and loving family at the Hershel "Woody" Williams Medical Center, Huntington, WV. Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Adrian Rayburn Henson and father, Fred Clayton Henson; a sister, Mary Ann Henson Lowe; three brothers, Paul Henson, Fred Henson, James Adkins and a daughter-in-law, Rena Henson.
Tom leaves behind his beloved wife of 62 years, Barbara Woolum Henson; two sons, Thomas Henson, Jr. and wife, Crystal Henson, and Michael Allen Henson, Sr. (Angela Wilks). Also surviving are his much loved grandchildren, Rachele Tipton (Ryan Tipton), Sarah and Roy Ward, Madison Henson (Alex Adkins), Aaron Henson, Michael Allen Henson, Jr., William Thomas "Will" Henson and Hannah Henson. His great grandchildren are Abby Henson, Hunter Henson, Thomas Tipton, AJ Adkins, Tucker Ward, Cindy Ward, Gracie Ward and James Ward. Others left to cherish his memory are sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Phil Rakes; nephews, Paul Henson (Anna Henson) and Mark Henson; nieces, Debbie Varnell, Cathy Lowe Krantz, Barbara Walters, Teresa Brumfield, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Tom worked in the transportation industry and was a bus driver for TTA. He loved God, country and his family. He served in the United States Navy on the USS Intrepid during the Vietnam era. Listening to Christian music encouraged him greatly; one of his favorite songs, "Beulah Land", has now become reality for Tom. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints." Psalm 116:15
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Schneider-Hall Funeral Home, Chesapeake, OH with Pastor Zane Foster officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to service time. Burial to follow at Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington, WV. Condolences may be expressed to the family at schneiderhallfuneralhome.com.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the amazing nurses, doctors and staff at the VA Medical Center for their excellent care of Tom. The family is also incredibly appreciative of the care they received from the Home Health Staff and a special thanks to Susie Fisher, Kim Samons, and Kaylyn and April Cottle.
