Thomas William Kincaid Jr.'s Obituary
Thomas William Kincaid Jr, 83 of Huntington WV passed away peacefully on December 16, 2019 to be with his Lord and Savior. Thomas was born in Amonata, Virginia on July 29, 1936. He was the first child of Lillian and Thomas W. Kincaid, Sr. His parents and two brothers who preceded him in death. Thomas accepted Christ at an early age. When attending church, along with his brothers and sister, Thomas participated in Sunday School and enjoyed singing in the choir. He received his education in the War, WV Public School System, graduating from Excelsior High School. Following High School Thomas moved to Huntington WV to live with his Uncle. After a couple of years, he enlisted in the United States Air force in August 1957. Later receiving an honorable discharge from the air force, Thomas moved back to Huntington. He then married Frances Ann Layne, Pikeville, KY and to his union one lovely daughter was born, Angela Michelle. Angela was Thomass pride and joy. After working several different jobs Thomas settled with Appalachian Power Company. He loved his job and later was promoted to Station Supervisor, and he worked 33 years till he retired in August of 1996. During this time Thomas was involved in everything he could put his hand to do. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. There he was a Sunday School Teacher, Trustee and sang in many choirs including the Gospel Chorus. While in Huntington, Thomas was very active in his community, things such as Boy Scout Leader, Fairfield West Improvement Council Board Member, He read books to students at Spring Hill Elementary and assisted with the community garden and was helpful to anyone in the community that needed a hand. Not only was he community minded he was Civic as well. Thomas served on the Human Rights Commission and numerous other boards throughout the City and within City Hall. He ran and won the election of Committeeman for his district. Another area he enjoyed was being apart of the Masonic Order. He was a FreeMason serving at Alexander Freeman Lodge #2 as Past Master Mason, 33 Degree Grand Expector General and Shriner at Abdul Court. You would think his plate was full, but he made time for friends and Family. Even with his busy schedule he and his friends "The Gang" made time to Travel, Socialize and Party After the passing of his wife he remarried and later joined The Christ Temple Church of Ashland Ky where he sang in all the choirs, enjoyed Sunday school and traveling with the Late Pastor Bishop Elzy Thomas. He loved his church and could be found anywhere in the building helping where he could. During the later years of his life he was not able to make the trip to Ashland and started fellowshipping with Encouragers Fellowship Church under the Late Bishop John A Martin Jr. and Pastor Phyllis. He never missed a service and could always be found in his seat in the first or second row as well as giving word of wisdom to everybody. During the last years of his life his daughter moved home to assist him. But that didnt stop him from sitting on his porch, making numerous friends and waving at all the people who walked by. He enjoyed the company of everyone that walked by his house and watching over the community. Thomas loved the Lord, his family, going to church, gospel music which he listened to all day every day. He sang with the Brotherhood Choir of Christ Temple Church up into his last 2 years. But he also loved Marshall Football. He had season tickets for many years and went to a lot of away games too. When he could no longer attend, he enjoyed watching it on TV with his daughter. Thomas leaves to share his love for God and his legacy: one loving daughter, Angela Michelle Kincaid of Huntington; one sister, Cleo Kincaid of Cincinnati, OH; nieces, Cheryl Green Michigan, Quozette Griffey (Robert) of Detroit, MI, and Charzette Torrence of New York, NY; Cynthia Wilkerson, Los Angeles Ca, Lagenia Layne, Pikeville Ky; nephews, Michael T. Lee of Columbus, OH, Christopher (Nicole)Layne of Los Angeles Ca, Charles Layne of West Liberty Ky, Carlos Layne of Richmond Ky; a host of cousins that he adored across the country and a host of other relatives and friends. Also surviving are his 3 Godchildren Donald Simms Jr, Genie Ann Layne, Reggie Hope, Christina Stradwick. We honor his Best Friends Donald and Suzette Simms who stood by him until the end. Funeral service will be held 12 Noon on Saturday December 21, 2019 at Encouragers Fellowship Church Huntington, WV. Visitation will be held 11 a.m. to 12 Noon on Saturday December 21, 2019 at the church. Private burial will be held in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington, WV.
