Thomas "Tuck" Shepherd's Obituary
Thomas "Tuck" Shepherd, 88, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 27, 2025. Tuck was born on July 14, 1937, in Glendale Springs, North Carolina, to Tom and Vena Miller Shepherd. He was the eldest of five sons. He met Virginia "Ginny" Tanner in Patriot, Ohio, at McDaniel Crossroads Church. They were married on Christmas Eve of 1955, in Gallipolis, Ohio. They enjoyed a blessed and loving marriage, until Ginny’s passing in 2023. He loved her dearly and longed to join her in heaven. He began working pipeline construction as a teenager, soon becoming a welder and pipeline construction foreman. He was a proud 63 year member of Pipeliners Union 798. Tuck loved hunting and fishing and was an accomplished marksman and gunsmith. He won many awards, including several from the American Rimfire Association, competing nationally until 2003. He was also honored as a Kentucky Colonel in 1986. Tuck was a member and past board member of McDaniel Crossroads Church. He loved his Lord and Savior and was not shy about testifying to that fact. He is survived by his four children, Lois (John) Schneider of Willow Wood,
Sandy (Lee) Johnson of Crown City, Connie Yates of Clinton Township, Michigan, and
Tommy (Kris) Shepherd of Willow Wood. He also loved and was so proud of his grandchildren, Jeremy Schneider, Lesley Schneider, Dusty (Erica) Johnson, Weston (Megan) Yates, Tanner Shepherd, and Jensyn (Bryce) Whitehead, along with five beautiful great-grandchildren, Josie VanMeter, Daniel Johnson, Stella May Johnson, Caroline Johnson and Finntyn Yates. He was preceded in death by his wife, father, mother, and four brothers, Harold Shepherd (infant), Leeman "Dave" Shepherd, Russell Shepherd and Charles Shepherd. There will be a graveside ceremony at Hatfield Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 1, 2026, officiated by Bro. Mark Crawford. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Schneider, Dusty Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Weston Yates, Tanner Shepherd and Bryce Whitehead. In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored if you would make a donation in Tuck’s memory to Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington, WV.
