Tom Taylor's Obituary
William Clyde “Tom” Taylor, Jr., 81, of Chesapeake, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, WV surrounded by his family that he dearly loved. Tom was born July 13, 1943, to the late William Clyde Taylor, Sr. and Betty Bowles Taylor Parsons in Huntington, WV. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, honorably discharged on March 7, 1967. He then began his career at the Nickel Plant in Huntington, WV. He worked his way through the ranks to Supervisor of Maintenance and retired in 1995. Being a master electrician, he also was sole owner of River Cities Electric Heating and Air. Tom was a member of the South Point Masonic Lodge #497. One of his proudest moments was on July 25, 2019, when he participated in the induction ceremony for his grandson Ryan Taylor becoming a master mason. He also was a past member of Abundant Life Baptist Church. Tom had a loving and giving heart, always ready and willing to help anyone in need. He was blessed with a lifetime of friendships that he held close to his heart. He loved showing his old cars and, when he was able, he delighted in hanging out at Hardees with his car buddies. He also loved taking long motorcycle rides all over the country with his wife, her sister Rosemary Helmondollar and late husband Dana. There were lots of stories to be told as they made precious memories on those trips. Tom was predeceased by his parents, his stepfather Tom Parsons, his grandparents Marvin and Nora Bowles, and two very special cousins, Joann Vanover and Sharon Heffner. He is survived by his wife Betty Jo (Slagle) Taylor, whom he married on November 21, 1985, and his two sons William Scott (Becky) Taylor and Troy Alan (Mendy) Taylor, seven grandchildren Macin Taylor, Ethan Taylor, Aaron Taylor, Ryan (Kayla) Taylor, Jacob Taylor, Brandon Taylor, and granddaughter Caitlin (Devin) Duke and her mother Stephanie Martin; three great grandchildren Cash Taylor, Ty Taylor, and Brantley Taylor. Also surviving is the mother of his two sons, Brenda Taylor, and his three special cousins in Florida: Connie Hiller, Debra Cascianos, and Rick Bowles; three sisters-in-law Karen Wilson, Rosemary Helmondollar and Janet (Denver) Hill, and one brother-in-law Dennis (Donna) Slagle. The family would like to thank Janet Hill for her medical guidance and support during Tom’s final days. Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 2 PM at the Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio with Pastor Michael Wright officiating. Masonic rites will be performed prior to the service by the South Point Masonic Lodge #497. Visitation will be held from 12:30-2:00 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Highland Memorial Gardens in South Point, Ohio with military rites. Pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Hinchman, Jerry Rowe, Bruce Hensley, and Dennis Slagle. Condolences may be expressed at ehallfuneralhome.com
