Urania’s Obituary Sunrise: May l,1956 Sunset: May 5, 2020 On Tuesday, May 5, 2020, God decided it was time for Urania to come home to her Heavenly home to sing and shout for victory in Christ Jesus. Urania Elizabeth (Turner) Gilmore “Rania” 64, was born on May 1, l956, to the late Edward V. Turner and Willa Mae Perkins Turner in Logan, WV. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her youngest brother Christopher G. Turner (Chris) and her eldest sister Angelica J. Turner (Ann), Two nephews--Charles A. Turner and Caleb V. Turner. Urania was warm and friendly with a charming infectious personality that created long-life friendships…. people naturally gravitated towards her. More importantly, she loved the Lord with her entire heart and soul. She was proud to proclaim her love for Jesus Christ. During her childhood, she attended The Original Glorious Church of God in Christ, where she was baptized. Urania graduated from Huntington High School in 1974. During high school she worked at the Huntington State Hospital in the Recreational Department for the summer youth program for the state of West Virginia in the city of Huntington. Immediately upon graduation, she secured a job with McKinney Shoe Corp. as a Data Entry Operator. Then in 1975, Urania moved to Chicago, IL, with her childhood lifelong friends Karen & Lisa Johnson, where she accepted a position as a Social Worker at The Department of Public Aid, where she worked for over 17 years. She returned to Huntington in 1993 to work at the US Postal Service for 9 years, then was employed by CCCSO Home Health Care. She was a member of Full Gospel Assembly Church where she remained a faithful servant of Jesus Christ until she was called home to rest. Urania had a multitude of hobbies. She loved and enjoyed Modern and Line dancing, she also loved coordinating reunions, researching family history, cooking, helping the sick and shut-ins, and watching game shows. Additionally, she loved spending time with her family and special friends Karen Johnson Coupet, Lisa Johnson, Fannette Thornhill- Scott, Yovonne Harless-Paige, and Cousins Vivian Pierson Frazier Newton, and Lizzie Pierson Thomas-Settle, and Stephanie Smith. Urania leaves to cherish her loving memories her husband, Ronald Gilmore, her son, Christopher Art Thompson, her daughter, Maeghan Elizabeth Turner-Gilmore and her stepson, Ronald Close; grandchildren Paris Close and Logan Close, her two sisters--Doresia Turner Goodson and Pamela S.Turner, brother Edward V. Turner (Shirl); niece Micole “Mikki” Harbison (Keith), 7 nephews Malann E. Turner (Natalie), Micheal E.C.Turner, Mitchell S.Turner (Kim), Jerome M. Goodson (Katie), Steven T. Goodson (Christa), Chandler V.Turner, Carrington E. Turner; Special sister-in-law, Mary L. Gilmore, 3 Brothers-in-law--John Gilmore, Monroe Gilmore, Bryant Gilmore; niece Mia Thompson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. A wake will be held from 6-8 P.M. on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at the funeral home. Funeral Service will be held at 12 P.M. Friday, May 22, 2020 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, OH with Bishop Samuel Moore officiating with visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Huntington, WV. Condolences may be expressed to the family at ehallfuneralhome.com.
