Ms. Velma Mae Cox's Obituary
Ms. Velma Mae Cox, born August 30, 1932, departed this life on Wednesday January 1, 2025. She has now began her “new life” in Heaven with her Savior, The Lord Jesus Christ and her loved ones there. Ms. Velma was a business woman in Huntington, WV for many years. She owned and operated a hair salon followed by a Personal Care Home that she also owned and operated with a number of employees through the years. In addition, she owned and managed an apartment building. Ms. Velma was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life for 49 years, Mr. Earl Cox; her son Larry Dale Cox; her beautiful great grandson Brad Austin Kessler; her parents Jones and Bertha Fowler; her sisters and brother-in-laws Pearl and Eddie Mays, Mryle and Ira Wheatley, Marie and Howard Workman, Nelma and Jack Hanks; her brothers Earl “Little” Carl and Kenneth Fowler survived by his wife Bonnie. Also preceding in death was her second husband Paul Baldwin. Those left to cherish Ms. Velma’s memory are her daughter Deborah (Bob) Kessler; her son Christopher Michael Cox; her grandchildren Nicole (Steve) Adkins, Clayton Kessler, Sabrina Anne Cox and former granddaughter-in-law Suzanne Kessler; her great- grandchildren Garrett Lynch, Brett (Karly) Kessler, Kameryn Lynch; her very special great great-granddaughter Miss Lainey Jo Kessler; and also several nieces, nephews, and friends. On behalf of Ms. Velma and her daughter, we would like to express out sincere love and gratitude to all of her caregivers, Ms. Michelle Johnson, who cared for her at her home; all of the staff at Trinity Healthcare who she and I grew to love in her 2 ½ year stay there. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday January 8, 2025 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio. Entombment will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, WV. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday January 8, 2025 at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ehallfuneralhome.com.
