Vincent Chapman's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Vincent Chapman
June 7, 1952 – May 15, 2026
With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Vincent Wendell Chapman, who departed this life peacefully on May 15, 2026, at the age of 73. Vincent was a devoted family man, loyal friend, and hardworking provider. He was a kind soul whose presence brought comfort, laughter, and wisdom to all who knew him.
Born on June 7, 1952, Vince lived a life rooted in dedication, strength, love, and laughter. He was a standout 1971 graduate of South Point High School, and was a celebrated, multi-sport athlete who left a lasting legacy. In 2021, Vince was officially inducted into the South Point High School Athletic Hall of Fame as part of its elite class of honorees. He also proudly dedicated 50 years of service to Calgon Carbon Corporation, where he was respected for his incredible work ethic, reliability, commitment, and the friendships that became like a second family.
Vince will be remembered for his loud and playful nature, sharp sense of humor, and the quiet ways he showed love through his actions. With his outspoken manner and unmistakable presence, Vince was someone people rarely forgot. Whether spending time with family, friends or coworkers, he loved sharing stories, telling jokes, and offering advice. In his free time, he enjoyed rebuilding and working on his Volkswagen cars and found great joy in riding his motorcycles. His love of music inspired him to DJ in his spare time. Vince was also a devoted Ohio State Buckeyes and San Francisco 49ers fan, never missing a chance to cheer on his teams.
Vince was preceded in death by Dorothy Chapman, Hosea B. Chapman, Sr., Patricia Pennix, and Leron Chapman. He leaves behind his children, Vonyetta Taylor, Qualon Burnside, Syreeta (Justin) Moore, and Leon (Heather) Chapman, as well as his grandchildren, Alana Burnside, Ajiah (Kaiden) Klein, Alivia Burnside, Aaliyah Burnside, Gabriella Moore, Kahil Ealey, Phoebe Hampton, Treshawn Brown, Kamaura Ealey, Aayden Massie, Paul Taylor, and Jalen Taylor Sr.; and great-grandchildren, Kaesen Klein and Jalon Taylor, Jr. He also leaves behind 2 siblings, Hosea (Amy) Chapman, Erana Chapman, and a host of loving family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory. Vince was especially grateful for the companionship of Mary Burnside, who held a very special place in his heart.
Though words cannot fully express the loss felt by those who loved him, his legacy of kindness, strength, and love will continue to live on through the many lives he touched.
The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, love, and support during this time.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville, OH.
