Violet Kathryn Shaver's Obituary
VIOLET KATHRYN SHAVER, 100 years young of Huntington, WV, passed away Wednesday, May 4th, 2016, at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, WV. Funeral service will be 3 PM Sunday, May 8, 2016, at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home with Rev. Hubert Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery. Violet was born February, 6th, 1916 at the family farm at Seven Hills in Lawrence County, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents Lenna and Kenneth Bick. Violet spent her early childhood growing up in Huntington, WV. Upon graduating from Huntington High School, Violet attended the Huntington School of Beauty, where she graduated and later became the proud business owner and manager of her own beauty salon in Huntington, WV. Violet served the public for over 50 years, until she retired at the age of 75 years old. She was a member of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church, located in Huntington, WV. Violet was preceded in death by, Homer Edward Shaver, her husband for over sixty three years, and one brother, Robert Byron Bick. Violet leaves two sons, P. Michael Shaver, Sr. and his wife Patti, both residing in Huntington, WV, and Larry Edward Shaver and his wife Helen, both residing in Charlotte, NC, and Jacksonville, FL. Violet was extremely proud of her seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. Violet was an artist, and enjoyed various hobbies after retiring. The joy of her life was her family, chicken noodle soup, and Stewart's Hot Dogs. Visitation will be 2-3 PM Sunday at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home, Chesapeake, OH. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregiver, Paulette Rakes for her loving care of Violet. Also, thank you to the nurses in Cabell Huntington Hospital's 4th floor rehabilitation and the nurses at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House.
