Virginia Irene Benson's Obituary
Virginia (Jenny) Irene Benson, 86, of Huntington, West Virginia, passed away peacefully at her home on July 14, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 29, 1940, Virginia lived a life centered on faith, family, and kindness. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose love and quiet strength touched everyone who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorsey and Martha Eagleston; brothers Don (Lucille) Eagleston and Harold (Jill) Eagleston; and sister Mary (Bob) Van Horn. Jenny leaves behind her beloved husband of 62 years, Jim Benson, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and cherished memories. She is also survived by her son Greg (Stephanie) Benson, daughter Lisa (John) Ghiz, and her treasured grandchildren Tyler Benson, Katie (Nathanael) Edmunds, and Grace Ghiz, sister Barbara Moore, brother Kenny Eagleston, and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her greatly. Jenny’s greatest joy was her family. She will be remembered for her caring heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for those around her. Her legacy will continue through the lives of her children, grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know her. She was a devoted member of New Baptist Church. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation at New Baptist Church in Huntington, West Virginia on Saturday July 18th from 11:00 am-12:00 pm. A funeral service celebrating Virginia’s life will be held after at 12:00 pm, officiated by Pastor Trent Eastman. Following the service, Jenny will be laid to rest at Rome Cemetery in Proctorville, Ohio. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in the many wonderful memories she leaves behind and in the love that will forever remain in their hearts.
