Virginia "Ginny" Shepherd's Obituary
Virginia "Ginny" Shepherd, 87, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on the morning of Wednesday, October 18, 2023. She passed away peacefully in the arms of her husband of 67 years. Ginny was born on February 18, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan, to the Rev. Jesse R. Tanner and Martha Moore Tanner. She was the eldest of three daughters. Ginny met Thomas "Tuck" Shepherd in Patriot, Ohio, at church. They were married on Christmas eve of 1955 in Gallipolis, Ohio. She spent her life as a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker in Willow Wood, Ohio. Ginny is survived by her husband and four children, Lois (John) Schneider of Willow Wood, Sandy (Lee) Johnson of Crown City, Connie Yates, and Tommy (Kris) Shepherd of Willow Wood. She also loved and was very proud of her grandchildren, Jeremy Schneider of Willow Wood, Lesley Schneider, Dusty (Erica) Johnson, Weston (Megan) Yates, Tanner Shepherd, and Jensyn (Bryce) Whitehead, along with five beautiful great-grandchildren, Josie VanMeter, Daniel Johnson, Stella May Johnson, Caroline Johnson and Finntyn Yates. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and two sisters, Charlotte (Gene) Walker and Janice Tanner. Ginny was a member of McDaniel Crossroads Church in Patriot, Ohio, for most of her life and loved her church family. There will be a private burial. In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored if you would like to make a donation in her memory to the McDaniel Crossroads Church or Hospice of Huntington.
