Virginia Elizabeth Harris' Obituary
Virginia Elizabeth (Linthicum) Harris went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 3, 2023. She was the youngest child of the late Arthur and Isabelle Linthicum. She was married for 53 years to the late Lewis Harris Jr. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Alice Booker, two brothers, William and James Linthicum, one grandson, Matthew Harris, and three nephews, Marvin, Marcel, and Lamont Linthicum. Early on in life, Virginia worked as surgical tech in the OR, and when she left that job, she would go on to do housework. Eventually, she retired from that line of work and became a housewife. For well after fifty years, she was a faithful member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where she served as an usher; visited the Fairhaven nursing home on a regular basis; formed the Pastors Aide Club; spearheaded the Going Home Committee; attended Stella Fuller ministry; and was designated to be the Mother of the Church. Virginia also founded our Linthicum/Edwards family reunion in the early 1980's. She also frequently opened her home and hosted several visiting pastors. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters Teresa (Don) Figgins Crown City OH and Patricia Hunter Cleveland OH. One son Larry (Gail) Harris Massachusetts. Seven grandchildren Michellina (Travis) Williams NC Tereka Eanes Huntington, Tosha (Pastor BJ) Roberts Hurricane WV; Jamar (Gina) Hunter Florida; Tinishia (Jeff) Moore Cleveland; Zakaree (Lindsey) Harris California, and Tyler Harris Rhode Island. twelve great grandchildren: Micaiah, Josiah, Nehemiah, Zechariah, Amiyah, Devin, Jaylyn, Jeff, Kaiden, Charlotte, Lilliana, and Dominique and an extra special extended family son William (BJ) Johnson. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church 1757 Tenth Ave. Huntington, WV. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery in Huntington, WV. Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.at the church. Hall Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family.
