Because of her relentless upbeat demeanor and positive outlook, talking with her made you think you must be in the presence of someone who had lived a charmed life and had never experienced any significant life problems. That would not be correct. As all do, Jenny faced times of struggle and adversity. An acute time of adversity came when a farming accident claimed the life of her husband, Bill, leaving her widowed at the age of 34 with seven children under the age of 17 and another little one on the way. It was her faith in God and inner strength that helped her cope with the loss, take care of her children, and move ahead through life. When asked how she was able to face this time, she would say, "Well, the Lord gives you the strength,"Jenny is survived by her eight children: Phillip (Marsha) Stevens of Pedro; Scherry (Stephen) Willis of Wheelersburg; Sandy (Jamie) Lafon of Scottown; Lisa Cardwell of Proctorville; Angie Eaches (fiancé Tim Hatfield) of Ashland, Kentucky; Mike Roth of Pedro; Rhonda (Scott) Fisher of Cincinnati; and Lorie (Frank) Fulks of Scottown; Twenty-one grandchildren, Thirty-five great-grandchildren, and Four great-great-grandchildren.Surviving siblings include Patsy Jean Rankin, Sue Nance, Rod Stevens, Teresa Dillon, Sheila Newman, and Vicki Deere. In addition to her parents and husbands, Jenny was preceded in death by an infant son, John Scott Rader; two brothers, Lindsey Stevens, Jr. and Greg Stevens; and a sister, Helen Bush.Funeral services will be held at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville, Ohio, on Thursday, November 16, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
