Wendell Lee Keith's Obituary
Mr. Wendell Lee Keith Sr., known as "Scrappy", 71, of Huntington, WV, left this earth to his heavenly home on Friday, December 16, 2022. He was born January 24, 1951 in Huntington, WV to the late M.C. and Rose Belle Keith. In addition to his parents, Wendell was preceded in death by a son, Wendell Lee Keith Jr. and a sister, Joyce Keith Moore. Scrappy was a graduate of Douglas High School in Huntington, WV. He married Brenda Singleton of Huntington, WV. They were blessed with one child, Wendell Lee Keith Jr. For many years Scrappy worked as a trash collector with the City of Huntington. Scrappy was well known for his daily concern for others. He was very committed to his daily visits to check on the sick and shut in. He loved listening to music, dancing, and being around people. To meet anyone, Scrappy initiated the "hi and how are you today?". Back in the day, Scrappy enjoyed driving and taking road trips. In addition, he found time to transport his neighbors and friends to appointments, to work, the grocery store etc. He was loved and regarded as a loving friend. He will be deeply missed and remembered for his warm smile and acts of kindness.Scrappy is survived by his loving brothers and sisters, Milton Keith (Georgia) of Cincinnati, OH, Melvin Keith (Charlene) of Palmdale, CA, Ricky Keith (Susan) of Huntington, WV, Robin Keith (Jimmy Lewis) of Huntington, WV, Leslie Keith of Corsicana, TX, Vachel Barnes of Huntington, WV, John Keith (Kathy) of Palmdale, CA, Pernell Channel of Corsicana, TX and Edie Jones of Lancaster, CA. Also surviving are two grandchildren Malik Keith and Tessa Meadows; fiancé Alice Scott; life-long friend Kenny Clements; life buddy Harry Layne; two very special cousins Lue Alice Garrett and Maggie Larkin and many more relatives and friends.The family would like to give our heart felt thanks to all of you for your expression of love and sympathy during our time of loss. We are extremely grateful for all the prayers, calls, flowers, cards and generosity. God Bless. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday December 30, 2022 at Hall Funeral Home & Crematory in Proctorville, OH. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
