Zachary Daniel Matasich, 32, passed away unexpectantly on February 18, 2024.He is survived by his mother, Tricia Begil (Matasich), stepfather, Al Begil, brother, Brandon Begil and wife Kendel, sister, Kelly "Rae" Begil, grandmothers, Barbara Begil and Patricia Matasich, soulmate, Taylor Dempsey, and her son Kingston, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, his nephew and niece, and numerous friends.The family is consoled in knowing that Zachary is reunited with his beloved "Pepaw", Charles M. Matasich.Zachary was born on April 17, 1991, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, in Huntington, WV. He spent his early years in Proctorville, Ohio and attended Fairland district schools until his high school graduation in 2009. Throughout his youth, Zachary enjoyed numerous Marshall sporting events, Ohio State football games, and of course, many nights at the Lawrence County Fair!Zach was an amazing athlete and represented Fairland in baseball and football for many years. He is remembered for his many long-distance touchdowns and his line drives to right center field. His love of sports carried on throughout his life and blessed him with many friends that became a part of his extended family.As we all have, Zachary had his own struggles, and took some wrong turns as he navigated his way through life. These wrong turns did not define who Zachary was, nor did it deter him from working on making himself a better person.Zachary lived hard and loved harder. His family and friends will forever hold his memory in their hearts.A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024, 6-8PM, at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville, Ohio.
