Charles Richard Cheetham, 82, of Proctorville, OH, passed away on Sunday, April 26, at home. He was born on November 30, 1943, in Huntington, WV, to the late Charles and Polly Cheetham. He was preceded in death by his brother Andy Read Obituary
I am so pleased for the opportunity to see my cousin’s service online. All of it was moving, but hearing his family and friends share how Butch’s life and example has impacted them was especially moving. Remembering my own experience of Butch, and listening to others speak of him brought one of my own favorite passages to mind, “He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.”
John and Mary Margaret Cheetham and Andrea Cheetham are watching the webcast from Georgia. We are sharing memories of Butch together. Thank you for having the webcast. We love and miss you Butch! We can just imagine what you and Andy are up to in heaven!
Mr. Cheetham was our neighbor for many years while he and his wife lived in Lexington, Kentucky. He was a man of great warmth and indefatigable humor. He was a treasured friend of our family as he and my dad would work on projects and get into misadventures together. Possessing immense skill with construction and tools, Mr. Cheetham gave my little brother, Zeb, his first job when he was an early teenager. I know Zeb learned a lot from him, not only in craft but also in character, as he looked up to him during these formative years. When my family lost our mom in 2008, Mr. Cheetham and his wife were an evergreen source of kindness and support. I have especially fond memories of the many gracious desserts his wife would make for us during this time. Through his faith, Mr. Cheetham brought great comfort to my dad and great reassurance to my little brother and me. We are all deeply saddened to hear of his passing. He will be remembered by my family for all the light he brought to us over the years, and he will live on cherished in our hearts and undimmed in our memories.

Charlie (Butch as we called him). You and your brothers, John and Andy were aggravating to each other! Your wonderful joke tricks! How they loved you! And now, John is the only brother left. Your wonderful words to John the days before you passed when you said “you loved him, said good-bye, you will see him in the next life, will always keep those words dear to his heart, forever! As for me, I know I was your favorite sister-in-law cause you sure aggravated me to death with those deer heads hanging on your walls! And, you made the deer meat chili for me to eat! I must say, it was good but haven’t eaten deer meet since! Remember, you can’t hunt deer in heaven! It’s time to love on them and look them in their beautiful eyes and say, “you are here because of us deer hunters!”😂. R.I.P. our dear loving Butch until we see you again❤️❤️. Sadly missed😞.
