Larry Allen Yost's Obituary
Larry Allen Yost graduated to heaven on November 7, 2025, and was reunited with his beloved wife, Barbara Yost. Larry was born on July 15, 1951, in Tazewell, VA, to Thomas and Mary Louise Yost. He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Barbara Yost and his grandson, Daniel Yost. Larry is survived by his son, Bruce (Stephanie) Yost and his daughter, Beth (Tim) Tanis. He was a loving Grampy to granddaughter, Addison Grace Yost. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Yost (Chuck) Eicher; nephew, Chris Eicher; sister- in- law, Marlene (Mel) McRoberts; brother-in-law, Alan (Deb) Blystone, and many loving cousins and extended family.
Larry was well known and respected in the community as a man of God who served in a variety of capacities at several local churches through the years, most recently, as an assistant pastor at Greenbottom Missionary Baptist Church in Lesage, WV. He took joy in using his voice to lead singing at church and enjoyed visiting with fellow saints and praying for needs. He graduated from Tri-State Bible College where he trained for the ministry. Larry was always ready to talk to those around him about how good God was and volunteered at a local nursing facility to hold Sunday church service.
Larry was also a faithful employee at JCPenney for over 40 years. He assisted customers as the manager in the catalog department for many years and later returned to the floor to continue to serve after initially retiring. Many in the community recognized him for his friendliness and helpful attitude that he exuded while working at JCPenney.
While his health limited his mobility for several years, Larry continued to make new friends and spread the joy of the Lord through social media and text messages. He had an unwavering faith and a generosity of spirit that will continue on in those lives he invested in.
