Mattie Elizabeth Stapleton's Obituary
Mattie Elizabeth Stapleton, 93, of Chesapeake, Ohio, passed away Thursday June 11, 2026, at Community Hospice Ashland, KY. She was born October 1,1932 in Lawrence County, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband Johnie A. Stapleton; son Jay Stapleton; and two infant sons. She is survived by a daughter Peggy (Alan) Boggs; and two sons Dan (Barbara) Stapleton, and Dave (Polly) Stapleton; grandchildren Kristy (Chris) Wiley, Jill Stapleton, Michelle (George) Warden, Shannon (Chasidy) Stapleton, Jason (Amanda) Boggs, Andy (Lauren) Stapleton, and Mike (Sarah) Stapleton; and a host of great and great -great grandchildren. Mattie was a retired cook with Lamda Chi Alpha fraternity. She was an avid Marshall and Steelers football fan. She was a longstanding member of Rivers Edge Campground, and was a professional fisherwoman and bingo player. She loved her Jesus and Elvis. The family would like to express a special thanks to Community Hospice Care Center staff of Ashland and especially her nurse Chuck. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday June 12, 2026, at Getaway Cemetery, Chesapeake, Ohio. There will be no visitation. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local hospice in memory of our Mamaw Mattie.
