Michael Xavier McDonald's Obituary
Michael Xavier McDonald, 71, of Flatwoods, KY passed away on April 22, 2020, at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland, KY. He was born December 7, 1948, in Wheeling, WV, the son of Bill and Mary McDonald. He graduated from St. Anthony’s High School in Follansbee, WV, class of 1966. Following high school he attended Marshall University, and graduated in 1970. He went on to serve in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Following his military service he served for many years as the Director of Head Start in Lawrence County, OH. Michael enjoyed writing short stories. He published Muse’s Mill, featuring short stories from various writers. He had a passion for creating art through his drawings and paintings. Michael was an avid golfer, taking advantage of any chance he could get to be out on the golf course. Michael was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Mary McDonald. He is survived by his sons, Brennan McDonald and Kevin McDonald of OH; his former spouse and friend Jane Jarvis of OH; his sister, Rita Mulkeen of WV; and his brothers, Bill McDonald of CT, Jay McDonald of WV, and Martin McDonald of WV. A private service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday April 25, 2020 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Chesapeake, OH. Burial will be in Miller Memorial Gardens in Miller, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice Care Center in Ashland, KY. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio assisted the family with arrangements.
