Robert George Cooper's Obituary
Robert "Bob" George Cooper, 89, of Proctorville, Ohio went to "Rest High on the Mountain" with the Lord in Heaven. We can "Only Imagine" what he is seeing now. He was born on November 8, 1934, and passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.He was the son of the late Charles E. "Buzzy" Cooper and the late Fannie Stapleton Cooper. He was preceded in death by one son, Eric Jason Cooper; three brothers, Bill, Fred, and Bernie Cooper; and one brother-in-law, Tom Lester.He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Marion Rae Ferris Cooper; two sons, Michael Bruce Cooper, and Jeffery Mark Cooper; one daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia Jane Cooper Root and Brian Root; three grandchildren, Josh (Amanda) Cooper, Crystal Cooper-Newman, and Samantha Cooper; seven great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Kyleigh, Kaylee, Zach Blair, Damian, Jace and Aubrey; two brothers, Gary Cooper of Springfield, Ohio and Charles E. "Smokie" Cooper, Jr of Proctorville, Ohio; one sister, Rachel Adkins of Proctorville, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Susie (Franklin) Love and Connie Lester of Proctorville, Ohio.He was retired from Mountaineer Gas in Huntington, WV with 33 years of service, served in the United States Army in Germany with an honorable discharge; was a village councilman of Proctorville, Ohio in his early years, and was President of the Fairland Little League and Girls softball league in 1982.Bob played on Fairland High Schools very first football team and was selected on the All-County basketball team in 1953. He loved to watch The Ohio State Football, Cincinnati Reds, fishing and spending precious time with is great grandkids, Jace and Aubrey Walters, playing baseball, softball, and basketball.The family would like to thank Hospice of Huntington for the great care they gave to our dad. We would also like to thank Destiny Ingraham, Sharon Rakes, and Ann Scarberry for all the hours they put in caring for the family at this difficult time.Funeral service will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2024, at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio with Pastor Brian Root officiating. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, Ohio. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Proctorville VFW Post 6878. Visitation will be held 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2024, also at the funeral home.Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ehallfuneralhome.com.
