THOMAS ALFRED WALKER, 91 of Burlington, Ohio passed away Friday, December 6, 2013, following a long illness at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington, WV. Funeral services will be 1 PM Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at Read Obituary
Tom, I watched the video tribute to your father's life. It was very moving and reminded me of my dad, who was also a WWII Navy Veteran who served in the South Pacific. I pray that God will grant you peace during this difficult time. I am proud of the way you took such good care of him during his final days. Wanda & Tom, Having grown up with Tommy Lee, your family feels more like our second family than merely friends. We will always remember and cherish the many wonderful times we had when our two families got together. Whether it be at Christmas time, playing Monopoly on the kitchen table, summer days at the lake, or just killing toy soldiers over the river bank with Tommy's BB gun, they were all memories that we will fondly remember. Time has a habit of moving on, and now it is time to say farewell to a man who we loved as a father. The thing that we hold onto is that we will all be together again one day soon. God promises it, and we believe it. Our prayers go up to God for you both, that He will give you His comfort and peace at this difficult time. Just open your hearts and accept it. We wish that we could be there with you, but for health reasons (Robert), we just can't at this time. We will be thinking of you and praying for you. I loved Uncle Tommy stories of him, my dad and his brothers, that he told me on my last visit with him a couple of years ago At the river bank Tommy was on a tree limb, thinking he had gotten away from Marshall, but Marshall decided to cut the tree limb down, making Tommy fell about 15 feet. He passed out and a woman that was doing her wash by the river, threw her wash water on him to wake him up. Another one was he and my dad got into a fight and my dad went flying, making a large hole in the wall of their home. Hard to hide that one from mom. Tommy laughed, and so did I. It was so great to hear stories about my dad.He was the closest brother to my dad, Ellis Walker. My dad and Tommy were the kindest of the Walker boys in my opinion. How did Dolly do it She raised wonderful, kind, and great children on a shoe-string budget.I'm praying for the living family, and his soul and the family in heaven!
As I was preparing to marry into the Walker clan, I only really knew Two Walker men. My future father-in-law Ellis (Red) Walker and his brother and future Uncle Tom . I knew they had 6 brothers and one lived in Crown City but Uncle Tom and Aunt Wanda and our troop would always attend the Walker Family Reunion and we became great friends.He was a Good Man and I know that as all of us taken to the Great Beyond, we will meet with pleasure and enjoy our family and friends that have past before us. May God take and care for Uncle Tom until we meet again.
