Thomas A Walker's Obituary
THOMAS ALFRED WALKER, 91 of Burlington, Ohio passed away Friday, December 6, 2013, following a long illness at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington, WV. Funeral services will be 1 PM Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home with Dr. Scott Mann officiating. Burial with military honors by Veterans Honor Guard Post 16 will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Burlington. He was born July 21, 1922, and was preceded in death by his mother, Miranda Dolly Hicks Walker; his father, Alfred Walker; six brothers; and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Wanda L. Carter Walker; his son, Thomas L. Walker, both of Burlington, OH; one granddaughter, Amanda (Raymond) Walker Pumilia of New Orleans, LA; one grandson, Nathaniel (Ona) P. Walker of Houston, TX; and one great granddaughter, Francesca Maria Pumilia of New Orleans, LA. He is a highly decorated World War II U.S. Navy veteran, (Boatswain Mate Second Class - BM2 USNR) and a Kamikaze survivor while serving aboard the USS Aulick, DD-569 during the battle of Leyte Gulf, Philippines Islands, a Master Mason of the South Point Lodge 497 F&AM of Ohio, a lifelong member of the Burlington Wesleyan Independent Church, a member of the American Legion Post 0443 of Ironton, OH, and an Eagle Scout of Boy Scouts of America. Visitation will be 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home, Chesapeake, OH.
